Eligibility of Lithuania to Export Egg Products to the United States
- PURPOSE
This notice provides instructions to inspection program personnel (IPP) at official import inspection establishments on actions to take when verifying the accuracy of inspection certificates for egg products imported from Lithuania. These certificates, provided by the State Food and Veterinary Service, Lithuania’s central competent authority in charge of food inspection, assure that these products meet FSIS requirements. - BACKGROUND
On 9/15/22, FSIS published the Federal Register notice, Eligibility of Lithuania to Export Egg Products to the United States (87 FR 56621). The Federal Register notice announced that Lithuania’s egg products inspection system is equivalent to FSIS’ food safety inspection system. Effective 9/15/22, Lithuania is eligible to export to the United States egg products produced in Lithuania on or after 9/15/22. Lithuania is already eligible to export processed beef and pork products to the United States, and this notice does not change the requirements for beef and pork. -
IPP RESPONSIBILITIES
