On March 26, Public Affairs Specialist Jesus Garcia of the Office of Public Affairs and Consumer Education hosted an information table at the D.C. Rotary Foundation Career Fair at held at Richard Wright Public Charter School for Journalism and Media Arts. He spoke about public affairs careers available in the federal government, plus numerous STEM careers available in food safety inspection. More than 200 students dropped by and walked away with food safety brochures and promotional items.

Pine Bluff, Ark.
On March 6, Springdale District Resource Management Specialist Cyndi Youngman and Consumer Safety Inspector (CSI) Earlene Holland shared information with University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff students about working at USDA. The FSIS employees participated in the university’s Spring Career Fair, showing students how navigate the USAJOBS website and apply for openings. Over 50 students—most graduating this spring—received information about our agency.

From Feb. 27 to 29, Philadelphia District Deputy District Manager (DDM) Dr. Chelsea Buckley visited the city’s four circuits. She toured the establishments alongside consumer safety inspectors (CSI), frontline supervisors (FLS) and plant management. Dr. Buckley presented achievement awards to employees and attended work unit meetings where they were able to participate in the February Employee Town Hall with agency leadership.

Columbus, Ohio
On Feb. 23, Office of Field Operations Deputy Assistant Administrator Dr. Hany Sidrak spoke at the Midwest Veterinary Conference and participated in an open forum concerning veterinarians in government. He also visited the FSIS exhibit booth, where Frontline Supervisor Dr. Michael Chiu was providing food safety information and answering questions about careers with FSIS.
