
Posting of Additional Informational Dashboards
I. PURPOSE
This notice announces the availability of additional informational dashboards, posted to IPP Help and the public webpages, for FSIS Directive 5000.1, Verifying an Establishment's Food Safety System, FSIS Directive 5300.1, Managing the Establishment Profile in the Public Health Information System, and FSIS Directive 7310.5, Presence of Foreign Material in Meat or Poultry Products. These dashboards provide key information from each of these directives and links to available resources. FSIS Notice 37-20, Posting of Information Dashboards Specific to FSIS Directive 10,010.1 described the dashboard information for FSIS Directive 10,010.1, Sampling Verification Activities for Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli (STEC) in Raw Beef Products. A notice will not be issued for future dashboards developed as they will be posted when completed.
II. BACKGROUND
A. In fiscal years 2018 and 2019, FSIS conducted an internal evaluation and survey to gain a better understanding of how directives are received in the field and whether they are understandable. FSIS is implementing one of the evaluation recommendations by developing informational dashboards to enhance usefulness and understanding of directives.
B. The dashboards provide clarification on key points of the directives and serve as a supplement to bring related information together in a user-friendly manner. The dashboards do not replace FSIS directives. Inspection program personnel are to continue to refer to the directives for complete instructions and seek guidance from their supervisor, as needed.
III. DIRECTIVE-SPECIFIC DASHBOARDS
Dashboards for the below issuances are posted under each respective Directive on the public webpage and to IPP Help under the Directive-Specific Dashboard icon ( ):
- FSIS Directive 5000.1 - Verifying an Establishment's Food Safety System
- FSIS Directive 5300.1 - Managing the Establishment Profile in the Public Health Information System
- FSIS Directive 7310.5 - Presence of Foreign Material in Meat or Poultry Products
