Washington Firm Recalls Pork Sausage Product Due To Misbranding and Undeclared Allergen

WASHINGTON, September 12, 2014Interbay Food Company, LLC, a Woodinville, Wash., establishment, is recalling approximately 4,820 pounds of pork Banger-style sausage products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the products' label.

- 1-lb. (16 links per package) Refrigerated packages of iThe British Pantry Ltd., British Style Bangers”
- 5-lb. Logs of iThe British Pantry Ltd., British Style Bangers”
The products were cooked in a Redmond, Wash., restaurant and sold to the general public. The products were produced using bread crumbs that came from a vendor who listed wheat, soy and milk on the label. Although the label for the bangers listed wheat and soy, it did not list milk as an ingredient. The products were produced on March 17, 2014, March 24, 2014, May 5, 2014, June 2, 2014, June 30, 2014, July 15, 2014, July 29, 2014, August 26, 2014 and September 8, 2014. The products' package codes are also its production dates. The products bear the establishment number iEst. 6267” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and have a 6-month shelf life.
The problem was discovered by an FSIS inspector who saw that the products were incorrectly labeled.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
