Recall Notification Report
FSIS Announcement
WASHINGTON, Nov. 14, 2011 - M&P Food Production, a Brooklyn, N.Y. establishment, is recalling 63 pounds of Veal Russian Brand dumplings because the dumplings are misbranded in that they may contain pork, which is not declared on the label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The products subject to recall include:
- 16-oz. packages of "RUSSIAN BRAND DUMPLINGHS-VEAL"
Each bag or box bears the establishment number "EST. 18832" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were packaged on Oct. 27, 2011 and have a Use By/Sell By date of April 27, 2012, and were distributed to retail stores in Pennsylvania.
The problem was discovered after an FSIS inspector collected a sample for species analysis. That sample tested positive for pork and beef. FSIS and the company have received no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Individuals concerned about an adverse reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. Consumers and media with questions about the recall should contact Vera Raziyeva at (718) 438-6421.
Consumers with food safety questions can "Ask Karen," the FSIS virtual representative available 24 hours a day at AskKaren.gov. The toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854) is available in English and Spanish and can be reached from l0 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Eastern Time) Monday through Friday.
