
Bon Appetizers, LLC Recalls Products Due to Misbranding and an Undeclared Allergen
FSIS Announcement
WASHINGTON, March 12, 2015 Bon Appetizers, LLC, a Lakewood, N.J., company, is recalling approximately 10,429 pounds of chicken product due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product contains peanut, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.

- Various weight bulk packages of CUISINE INNOVATIONS CHICKEN EMPANADA with production dates of 8/12/14.
- Various weight bulk packages of CUISINE INNOVATIONS CHICKEN QUESADILLA CORNUCOPIA (CHICKEN AND CHEESE FILLING IN FLOUR TORTILLA) with production dates of 7/3/14, 10/14/14 and 10/15/14.
- Various weight bulk packages of RIDGECREST CHICKEN QUESADILLA CORNUCOPIA (CHICKEN AND CHEESE FILLING IN FLOUR TORTILLA) with production dates of 7/16/14, 7/17/14, 11/18/14, 11/19/14 and 11/20/14.
- Various weight bulk packages of CULINARY SECRETS CHICKEN QUESADILLA CORNUCOPIA with production dates of 7/1/14, 7/2/14, 7/3/14, 7/24/14, 7/26/14, 11/24/14, 11/25/14, 12/4/14 and 12/8/14.
The products bear the establishment number P-32068 inside the USDA mark of inspection printed on the product label. The products were slated for food service and institutional use in Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey and Texas.
The problem was discovered when Bon Appetizers, LLC was notified by its spice supplier that cumin used in the products may have been contaminated with peanut allergens.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
