
New Sanitation Requirements in Egg Products Plants Going into Effect
- PURPOSE
This notice provides a list of regulatory changes that will take effect on October 29, 2021, when plants that produce egg products must comply with the Sanitation Performance Standards (SPS) requirements in 9 CFR part 416 and implement Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (Sanitation SOPs). This notice instructs FSIS inspection program personnel (IPP) to remind plants of these upcoming changes at the next weekly meeting. FSIS will issue additional instructions to IPP on how to verify that egg products plants meet SPS requirements and Sanitation SOPs. -
BACKGROUND
On October 29, 2020, FSIS published a final rule to modernize egg products inspection (85 FR 68640). Provisions related to SPS requirements and the implementation of Sanitation SOPs become effective on October 29, 2021. -
CHANGES TO THE EGG PRODUCTS INSPECTION REGULATIONS
On October 29, 2021, the following changes to regulations will become effective. -
WEEKLY MEETING
At the next weekly meeting, IPP are to remind egg products plant management that the SPS and Sanitation SOP requirements in 9 CFR part 416 are effective October 29, 2021. -
