- PURPOSE
This notice announces mandatory FSIS Workplace Safety and Health Hazards training for all Inspection Program Personnel (IPP). - BACKGROUND
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by FSIS and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) leadership on August 1, 2022, IPP are required to complete Workplace Safety and Health Hazards training annually. The training will help IPP identify serious hazards and learn about procedures for making referrals, filing complaints, and reporting injuries to OSHA. FSIS will provide refresher training annually and when any major changes are made to job procedures. - TRAINING AVAILABILITY AND COMPLETION
- All IPP will be pre-enrolled in the mandatory training. The training will appear under the “My Mandatory Training” section of their AgLearn dashboard on September 1, 2023.
- IPP working for FSIS as of September 1, 2023, are to complete the training by December 31, 2023.
- New IPP who start working for FSIS after September 1, 2023, are to complete the training within 120 days from the date they enter on duty.
- The training will take approximately one hour to complete.
- IPP are to receive a score of at least 70% on the twenty-question multiple-choice test to receive credit for completing the course. The course completion date will be automatically notated in AgLearn for those who successfully pass the test.
