Labeling 101
The guidance provides basic information about FSIS requirements for the labeling of meat and poultry products, including prior approval requirements, generic approval procedures, mandatory labeling statements, and safe handling labels. It applies to official establishments and other firms responsible for labeling meat and poultry products. It relates to 9 CFR 317.2 and 381 Subpart N.
