Net weight Letter 4
This letter responds to a letter by an industry group regarding the net weight determination for federally inspected, case-ready meat and poultry products labeled as enhanced and/or maintained with solutions. This letter clarifies FSISs position on net weight so as to resolve any confusion associated with net weight compliance standards being set by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for these products. This guidance relates to 9 CFR 317.19, 381.121 (a) and (b), 317.2(e), 381.117, and 317.8(b)(17).
