Mr. Pete Bridgeman
Pete Bridgeman was appointed Executive Associate of Employee Experience for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service’s (FSIS) Office of Employee Experience and Development (OEED) in June 2018.
OEED is responsible for the formulation, development and delivery of all workforce training, training transformation that supports modernization initiatives and enhanced employee engagement for the Agency. Bridgeman’s immediate focus is building the new Employee Engagement and Recognition Staff, which designs, develops and implements all employee engagement activities, develops an annual Agency Employee Engagement Action Plan and coordinates onboarding, orientation, and i-Impact training throughout the Agency.
Before this appointment, Bridgeman helped to establish the Office of Customer Experience in the Assistant Secretary for Administration’s office during a detail assignment to that office.
Previously, Bridgeman served as the Assistant Administrator for the Office of Management for two years. In that capacity, he was responsible for all Human Resource Services, Administrative Services and Employee Safety, Health and Wellness. He also served as the Agency’s lead for the FSIS’ Strategic Goal 3: Achieve Operational Excellence, a goal he continues to supports in his current position.
Bridgeman’s initial executive appointment was to the Deputy Assistant Administrator position for the Office of Investigation, Enforcement and Audit (OIEA), where he helped to lead the Agency’s surveillance and investigation activities for incidents of foodborne illness, outbreaks, recalls, natural disasters and intentional contamination.
Before his executive service, Bridgeman served in a variety of senior leadership roles with six different FSIS program areas over his 34-year career with the Agency, including the Office of Public Health Science, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, the Office of Field Operations, the Office of Management and OIEA and OM.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bridgeman served for four years in the U.S. Navy as a Reactor Operator, successfully completing the Naval Nuclear Power School program, where he studied Nuclear Physics and Reactor Principles. He also studied at Rutgers University and Edison State College in New Jersey, where he majored in Business Administration and minored in Journalism.
