State Meat and Poultry Inspection (MPI) Programs Contacts
State MPI programs operate under a cooperative agreement with FSIS. Under the agreement, a State's program must enforce requirements "at least equal to" those imposed under the Federal Meat Inspection Act and the Poultry Products Inspection Act.
Cooperative Interstate Shipping Program Contacts
Under CIS, state-inspected plants can operate as federally-inspected facilities, under specific conditions, and ship their product in interstate commerce and internationally. Without CIS, a state-inspected plant is limited to sales within its own borders even if an adjoining state is just across the highway or river.
HACCP Coordinators
Coordinators are affiliated with Universities and provide additional one-on-one advice and assistance to small and very small plants related to HACCP and HACCP Validation. Coordinators also develop and provide training.
