Inspection of Meat Products
Under the Federal Meat Inspection Act, FSIS is responsible for ensuring that the nation's commercial supply of meat, wholly or in part, from the carcass or parts of any cattle, sheep, swine, and goat, is safe, wholesome, and correctly labeled.
Inspection of Poultry Products
Under the Poultry Products Inspection Act, FSIS is responsible for ensuring that the nation's commercial supply of poultry is safe, wholesome, and correctly labeled.
Inspection of Egg Products
Under the Egg Products Inspection Act (EPIA), FSIS conducts inspection activities at egg products plants to ensure plants must meet to produce wholesome, not adulterated product, that is properly packaged and labeled.
Inspection of Siluriformes
FSIS also inspects Siluriformes, including catfish, under the Federal Meat Inspection Act. FSIS verifies that amenable product, which includes Siluriformes fish and Siluriformes products, in U.S. commerce (outside of the federally inspected facility) are wholesome, are not adulterated, and are properly marked, labeled, and packaged.
