On April 23, Consumer Safety Inspector Prudencio Camacho was traveling with his family near Canton, Texas, when they noticed a truck and trailer overturned on the side of the highway and starting to catch fire. A man was stuck inside the truck, pounding on the window to get out. Camacho used his pocketknife to pop out the sliding window that is located at the back of the truck. He then managed to help pull the man to safety.
FSIS Deputy Administrator Terri Nintemann said, “Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, and we are proud as an agency to have fast-acting and courageous personnel like Mr. Camacho on the FSIS team! Thank you!”
Camacho is assigned to a red meat slaughter and processing establishment in Fort Worth, Texas, and has 20 years of experience.
Nintemann encouraged everyone to share accomplishments and highlights for yourself or your colleagues, through your chain of command, “so that we can recognize you and thank you for a job well done.”
