Netflix is premiering a new series today, “The G Word,” which features the role of government in our lives. The series is hosted by comedian Adam Conover.

Food is the subject of the first episode, and it highlights pros and cons of several USDA programs along with their histories and roles. Though FSIS is a small part of the episode, we applaud the three FSIS field personnel, pictured below, who represented FSIS and effectively portrayed why our work is so important in protecting public health. 

The company producing the show is Higher Ground Productions, which former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama founded in 2018. The episode is rated TV-MA.

Dr. Douglas Suntrup (pictured below, third from left) is a veterinarian and currently the Omaha Circuit frontline supervisor. He was interviewed by host Adam Conover (second from left). Suntrup has been with FSIS for seven years. In 2017, he was selected as the frontline supervisor and has served in that role since.

Dr. Angela Brokman (pictured below, center) is a veterinarian and mini-circuit supervisor in Omaha, Nebraska, and was interviewed by host Adam Conover (far right). Brokman has been with FSIS for almost 12 years. She is currently supervising a slaughter and processing mini-circuit in Omaha that includes 30 processing establishments and 2 slaughter establishments.

Host Adam Conover (pictured below, second from left) interviewed Consumer Safety Inspector Miguel Avalos (third from left). Avalos has been working for FSIS since 2012. He is in the Omaha Circuit and has been in this position for two years.
