Upcoming Public Meetings 

Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH): The U.S. Codex Office will conduct a public meeting on January 17, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Jamie L Whitten Building, Room 107-A, 1400 Independence Ave, S.W., Washington, DC 20250.  The purpose of this public meeting is to present draft US positions on the topics to be discussed at the upcoming session of the CCSCH in Chennai, India.  Persons interested in attending the public meeting in person or by teleconference are requested to register in advance by providing their name, organizational affiliation, and contact information to Marie Maratos (marie.maratos@fsis.usda.gov) as soon as possible for clearance.  For those who would like to participate by telephone, please use the following Call-in information:  1-888-844-9904; Participant Code: 5126092#.  The proposed agenda and relevant documents for this session are available at: http://www.fao.org/fao-who-codexalimentarius/meetings-reports/detail/en/?meeting=CCSCH&session=3.

Committee on Fats and Oils (CCFO):  The U.S. Codex Office will conduct a public meeting on January 24, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Harvey W. Electronic Working Groups (eWG)

Committee on Food Hygiene (CCFH) invites Members and Observers to join an eWG, chaired by the UK and co-chaired by France, Ghana, India, Mexico and the United States, working in English, French and Spanish, to progress work on the Revision of the General Principles of Food Hygiene (CAC/RCP 1–1969) and its HACCP Annex.  The specific terms of reference are to:

  •  pursue the revision of the Introduction and to undertake the revision of the second and third parts in parallel for circulation for comments at Step 3;
  • consider if aspects on commitment and responsibility for food safety, including food safety culture, should be incorporated; and
  • consider the use of examples of control measures at all steps in the food chain (including those that cannot be addressed as CCPs), as well as a comparison table between GHP, CCP and any other types of control measures, to better understand the issues and support the work.

Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU) invites Members and Observers to join an eWG, chaired by Zimbabwe, and co-chaired by South Africa, working in English only, to continue work on the draft proposed definition for biofortification with the following terms of reference:

  • revise the criteria on the basis of the discussion at the session and the written comments submitted to the session, and
  • to further develop the definition on biofortification for consideration its next session.
