Information to Prepare and Give Public Comment

The Joint Public Meeting on the Use of Cell Culture Technology to Develop Products Derived from Livestock and Poultry will provide interested stakeholders an opportunity to share their thoughts on the potential hazards, oversight considerations, and labeling of cell cultured food products derived from livestock and poultry.  There will be multiple opportunities throughout the meeting for open public comments and informal discussion among participants.

To facilitate public comments during the meeting, the FDA and USDA have posted a number of discussion questions in the agenda, and facilitators will walk through each of these questions during the open public comment periods to solicit public comment.  Attendees should come prepared to share their views, experiences, and comments.  Your feedback on these questions will help inform the agencies’ actions going forward.

In addition to the open public comment periods discussed above, the agenda also sets aside time for two formal public comment periods.  These comments will be entered into the public meeting record and should be no more than three minutes in length.  Attendees who have registered to give public comment should expect to receive up to three minutes to speak either on Day 1 (hazards and oversight) or Day 2 (labeling).  Attendees providing public comment on all issues may be asked to speak on either Day 1 or Day 2.  Prior to the meeting, you will receive an email to assign a date and estimated time slot for your public comment.

At any time, you may submit comments at: https://www.regulations.gov/docket?D=FSIS-2018-0036.
