Pork imported from Italy is subjected to African Swine Fever (ASF) requirements specified in 9 CFR 94.8, Classical Swine Fever (CSF) requirements specified in 9 CFR 94.31, and Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD)  requirements specified in 9 CFR 94.11.

Most of Italy is affected with Swine Vesicular Disease (SVD), except Emilia-Romagna, Friuli, Liguria, Lombardia, Marche, Piemonte, Valle d’Aosta, Veneto, and the autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano. Pork imported from these listed areas are required to meet animal health requirements in 9 CFR 94.13. Pork imported from all other areas are required to meet animal health requirements in 9 CFR 94.17.
