SPECIAL SURVEYS
- Raw Pork Products Exploratory Sampling Program
FSIS will collect data on the presence of Salmonella, other pathogens, and indicator organisms in various pork products.
TECHNICAL PAPERS
- Using a Six Sigma Fishbone Analysis Approach To Evaluate the Effect of Extreme Weather Events on Salmonella Positives in Young Chicken Slaughter Establishments
FSIS research article from the Journal of Food Protection, Number 12, December 2016 - Current and Future Development and Use of Molecular Subtyping (PDF Only)
The paper explains how FSIS is using the latest proven technology to address foodborne pathogens.
ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE
National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS)
NARMS is an interagency program among FSIS, the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), developed to monitor, characterize, and identify trends associated with antimicrobial resistant bacteria in meat and poultry products, retail meat, and humans.
BASELINE DATA
Baseline Data
Data were obtained to estimate the prevalence and levels of bacteria on a sample of inspected carcasses. Studies focus on bacteria of concern to public health.
