PART 310-POST-MORTEM INSPECTION
1. The authority citation for part 310 continues to read as follows:
AUTHORITY: 21 U.S.C. 601-695; 7 CFR 2.18, 2.53.
2. Section 310.13 is amended as follows:
Paragraph (a)(2)(iv)(C) is revised by adding the phrase "of all livestock except cattle" after "into the skull" and before "in conjunction with".
Air-injection stunning of cattle is no longer allowed.
PART 313 -- HUMANE SLAUGHTER OF LIVESTOCK
3. The authority citation for part 313 continues to read as follows:
AUTHORITY: 7 U.S.C. 1901-1906; 21 U.S.C. 601-695; 7 CFR 2.17, 2.55.
2. Section 313.15 is amended as follows:
Paragraph (b)(2) is revised by adding the words "and prohibitions" after the words "Special requirements" and before the period, by inserting an (i) before the words "Choice of instrument", and by adding a new paragraph (ii) to read as follows:
(ii) "Captive bolt stunners that deliberately inject compressed air into the cranium at the end of the penetration cycle shall not be used to stun cattle."
Air-injection stunning of cattle is no longer allowed.
