Memorial Day Kicks Off the Summer and Eating Outdoors
Memorial Day is the unofficial start of the summer season. While millions of Americans honor the sacrifices so many have made to protect our country, they also celebrate the freedoms afforded to us with family and friends. Often this means outdoor cook-outs and picnics.
"This summer may look different than most, and you can protect your family from foodborne illness and other illnesses during your summer celebrations by avoiding large gatherings, practicing social distancing, and washing your hands regularly," says Dr. Mindy Brashears, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Under Secretary For Food Safety.
