Reminder: Hong Kong’s Eligible Establishment List Effective Date

As announced in the April 26, 2024, Constituent Update, and stated in the FSIS Export Library, Hong Kong is instituting a new eligible establishment list requirement. Only those U.S. establishments that slaughter, process, store, or export raw meat and/or poultry products that are approved by Hong Kong and added to the FSIS Hong Kong Eligible Establishment List can export to Hong Kong. The effective date is February 14, 2025.

FSIS transmits updated establishment lists to Hong Kong monthly. To be included in the February 2025 transmission, an establishment’s new 9080-3 application for Hong Kong must be submitted through the Public Health Information System. In addition, the 9080-3 must be complete and be approved through all FSIS review steps by February 11, 2025.

FSIS will continue transmitting lists to Hong Kong monthly after the February 14, 2025, effective date. However, at this time, Hong Kong has not provided FSIS with its requirements for accepting new U.S. certified establishment lists after this effective date. FSIS will provide updates once it has received this information.

Prior to February 14, 2025, all U.S. federally inspected establishments are eligible to export meat and poultry products to Hong Kong, and FSIS in-plant-personnel are to continue certifying exports to Hong Kong as usual.

FSIS Posts Quarterly Sampling Data

FSIS has updated the following quarterly sampling data sets:

• Quarterly Sampling Results: The quarterly sampling report was updated to include results through the first quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2025. Quarterly, FSIS calculates prevalence, volume weighted percent positive, or percent positive calculations for microbial pathogens in FSIS regulated products that are currently sampled through existing sampling projects using the prior 12 months of sampling data.
• Quarterly Sampling Reports for Salmonella Serotype Information: The quarterly sampling report for Salmonella serotype information was updated to include results through the fourth quarter of FY 2024. This post includes quarterly Salmonella serotype data for Salmonella isolates collected from FSIS product categories.
