All export applications for meat and poultry exports must be entered and processed through PHIS beginning Monday, March 6, 2023.

Effective for all meat and poultry export certificates approved, signed, and issued on or after March 6, 2023, the export applicant will select the equivalent statements via the PHIS statements module when completing the export application in PHIS. The selected statements will be added by PHIS in the Remarks continuation page, FSIS Form 9060-5B.

All FSIS export certificates accompanying the product must be electronically signed by a FSIS veterinarian. PHIS will automatically add the veterinary degree (DVM) to the printed name of the approving FSIS veterinarian in the signature box of the export certificate. 

A. Poultry meat and meat products

1. PHIS will generate FSIS Form 9060-5, Meat and Poultry Export Certificate of Wholesomeness; and 

2. For Poultry Meat and Meat Products Exported to Solomon Islands from the United States of America, the statements below must be added to the export certificate, FSIS Form 9060-5B, via the statements module when completing the export application in PHIS:

I, the undersigned FSIS Official Veterinarian, certify that the poultry meat and poultry meat products satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Were derived from birds which have been kept in a Newcastle Disease, as defined by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), free county since they were hatched or for at least the past 21 days, or the poultry meat has been treated to inactivate the Newcastle disease virus in accordance with OIE recommendations.
  2. Were derived from birds which have been kept in a high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI), as defined by the OIE, free county since they were hatched or for the past 21 days, or the poultry meat has been treated to inactivate the HPAI disease virus in accordance with OIE recommendations.
  3. a. Were derived from birds which have been slaughtered in an approved abattoir in a county free of Newcastle disease and HPAI, as both diseases are defined by the OIE;

OR

 b. The poultry meat has been treated to inactivate the virus of concern in accordance with OIE recommendations, and packaged in accordance with the requirements of the United States including the necessary precautions to avoid product contamination.

4. Were produced in accordance with the National Residue Program and determined safe for human consumption and were processed, prepared, packaged, stored and transported according to the regulations of the United States of America.

A. Exporters must work with their importers to ensure issuance of a valid import permit prior to shipping product to Solomon Islands

All federally inspected establishments are eligible for export to Solomon Islands.
