WASHINGTON, July 31, 2013 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), in conjunction with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Veterinary Medicine, is sponsoring a public meeting to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items, and draft U.S. positions to be discussed at the 21st Session of the Codex Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Foods (CCRVDF). The 21st Session will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from August 26-30, 2013.
The public meeting will be held on August 5, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the USDA – Jamie L. Whitten Building, U. S. Department of Agriculture, 1400 Independence Ave, Room 107-A, Washington, D.C., 20250. Codex was established in 1963 by FAO/WHO. Codex seeks to protect the health of consumers and ensure fair practices in the food trade through adoption of food standards, codes of practice and other guidelines developed by its committees, and by promoting their adoption and implementation by governments.
