Planning & Performance Agenda 2013: Year in Review
The FSIS Planning & Performance Agenda: Year in Review FY 2013 (PDF), which highlights the Agency’s annual accomplishments towards its strategic mission, posted significant Agency progress in FY 2013.
Four of the 8 Agency Strategic Plan Goals ended the year rated as “green”, meaning they “met” or “exceeded” Management Council targets. Key progress included gains on the All-Illness measure due to improvements to the Salmonella illness metrics. The Strategic Performance Working Group, which was established to take on some of the agency’s most intransigent challenges, concentrated on Salmonella and produced the Salmonella Action Plan (SAP), which the Agency is implementing this year.
In terms of Agency performance, 81% of the Agency’s measurable performance targets for the year were either “met” or “exceeded”. Additionally, the Agency started tracking an additional 13 measures so that there are only 4 more measures to come on line in FY 2014.
Operationally, the agency’s individual Program Areas completed 76% of all their planned FY 2013 Annual Performance Plan Key Results – a 5% improvement over FY 2012. This is a true testament of coordination and teamwork across the agency, which begins with each member of staff contributing toward the mission of public health.
These are just a few of the many accomplishments that Agency efforts led to in FY 2013. Read the FSIS Planning and Performance Agenda: A Year in Review FY 2013 to find out more. The strength of FSIS is in each individual as a member of the team. The Agency plans to continue pressing forward as “One Team, One Purpose” to advance its strategic and operational mission of public health in FY 2014.
