Codex Committee on Food Additives

The Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA) establishes or endorses acceptable maximum levels (MLs) for individual food additives; prepares a priority list of food additives for risk assessment by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA); assigns functional classes to individual food additives; recommends specifications of identity and purity for food additives for adoption by the Commission; considers methods of analysis for the determination of additives in food; and considers and elaborates standards or codes for related subjects such as the labeling of food additives when sold as such.
The Committee held its 46th Session March 17-21, 2014 in Hong Kong, SAR, Peoples Republic of China. The U.S. Delegate’s Report of that Session is available.
