Codex Executive Committee

Committee & Task Forces

The Executive Committee acts as the executive organ of the Commission between sessions of the Commission. Its composition is designed to provide an adequate representation of the various geographical areas to which members of the Commission belong. In addition to the Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons, seven members are elected by the Commission at the regular session, one coming from the following regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin American and the Caribbean, Near East, North America, and the South-West Pacific. Other members consist of the six Regional Coordinators.

The Committee may make proposals to the Commission regarding the work of the Commission, study special problems, and serves as the standard management body. The Committee generally meets prior to each session, and at other times during the year.

At the 31st session of Commission, Dr. Karen Hulebak of the United States was elected Chairperson. Elected to serve as Vice-Chairpersons were: Mr. Sanjay Dave, India; Mr. Ben Manyindo, Uganda; and, Mr. Knud Ostergaard, Denmark.
