Electronic Working Groups (eWGs)

Committee on Processed Fruits and Vegetables (CCPFV)

Certain Frozen Vegetables:  CCPFV invites Members and Observers to join an eWG, chaired by United States of America and co-chaired by France, working in English only, to redraft the Annex on Certain Frozen Vegetables (Revision of Individual Standards for Quick Frozen Vegetables) applying to all Quick Frozen Vegetables and Annexes.  This will specifically focus on French Fried Potatoes and other remaining quick frozen vegetable annexes not discussed at the last Session, including the section on methods of analysis.   Members and observers who wish to participate should provide the following information through their Codex Contact Points to Dorian LaFond (dorian.lafond@ams.usda.gov) and Brigitte Pouyet (brigitte.pouyet@dgccrf.finances.gouv.fr) no later than April 15th, 2015.

Dry and Dried Products: CCPFV invites Members and Observers to join an eWG, chaired by Brazil, working in English only, to reassess conclusions and recommendations of the discussion paper on Dry and Dried Products Standards, to  evaluate provisions of remaining dry and dried products standards that may need revision, and to provide information to the next session of the CCPFV. Individuals in the United States interested in participating should provide their name, official title, and e-mail address to the U.S. Codex Office (USCodex@fsis.usda.gov) by April 10, 2015.  Individuals in other Member countries and organizations interested in participating should forward their information to the Brazilian Codex Contact Point (codexbrasil@inmetro.gov.br) by April 15, 2015.

Call for Data and Experts

The Joint FAO/WHO Activities on Risk Assessment of Microbiological Hazards in Foods has issued a call for data and experts on non typhoidal salmonella spp. and pathogenic escherichia coli associated with beef and pork.   Governments, the meat industry, academia, consumer groups, laboratories, health care providers and any other interested organizations and individuals are requested to submit any available data, either published or unpublished. Reference should be made to related published studies, where applicable.  Please submit any relevant information (electronic and/or hard copies), in any official UN language (English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian) by April 15, 2015.

In addition, FAO and WHO are currently in the process of identifying experts to participate in future work of FAO and WHO in the area of microbiological hazards associated with beef and pork. Applications should be sent to FAO and WHO by May 15, 2015.  Both the data submissions, as well as the expert applications, should be sent via email to Dr Sarah Cahill (jemra@fao.org) and Dr Mina Kojima (jemra@who.int) by the dates indicated above.
