Recent Working Group Meetings:
Committee on Food Hygiene (CCFH) : The United States participated in two physical working groups which met consecutively in Trim, Ireland, July 11-15.
- The Working Group on the Revision of the Principles for the Establishment and Application of Microbiological Criteria for Foods prepared a document that will be circulated for comment and discussed at the upcoming CCFH meeting in December. The Working Group will recommend to CCFH that the Committee agree to continue work on this document by developing series of annexes providing practical examples.
- The Working Group on the Proposed Draft Guidelines for Control of Specific Zoonotic Parasites in Meat was charged with outlining controls for Trichinella spiralis and Cysticercus bovis in food products. Although the Working Group made significant progress on the document, large sections which reference OIE documents must remain blank until OIE completes its ongoing work on Trichinella. This document will also be on the agenda at the upcoming CCFH meeting.
