New Working Groups

Committee on Contaminants (CCCF): At the recent Session, the Committee agreed to re-establish the electronic Working Group (eWG), led by the European Union and co-chaired by the Netherlands, to prepare a revised version of the editorial amendments to the General Standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food and Feed (GSCTFF) for consideration at the next session. New Interested member countries and observer organizations should provide the names, affiliations, email addresses and telephone numbers of their official designated representatives to Frans Verstraete ( frans.verstaete@eu.europa.eu with a copy to codex@eu.europa.eu) by May 31, 2013. New parties in the United States interested in contributing to U.S. participation in the eWG should send their contact information to the U.S. Codex Office (uscodex@fsis.usda.gov) by May 24, 2013.

Circular Letters (CL)

Committee on Food Additives (CCFA) 
INS List : CL 2013/13 FA invites Member Countries and interested observer organizations to provide information and comments on proposals for changes/additions to the International Numbering System (INS) list. Comments should be submitted on the basis of the following Annexes:

  • Annex 1: Principles for proposals for changes to Section 3 "International Numbering Systems-INS" of CAC/GL 36-1989; and
  • Annex 2: Form for submitting proposals for changes to the INS list.

Interested Member Countries and observer organizations should send the proposals for changes/additions to the INS list to the CCFA Secretariat (secretariat@ccfa.cc) with a copy to the Codex Secretariat (codex@fao.org) by September 15, 2013. Parties in the United States that are interested in contributing to U.S. response should contact the U.S. Codex Office (uscodex@fsis.usda.gov) by July 1, 2013.

Priority List for JECFA: CL 2013/12 FA invites Member Countries and interested observer organizations to provide information on new requests and comments on substances already included on the priority list of substances proposed for evaluation by JECFA. Comments should be submitted on the basis of the following Annexes:

  • Annex 1: Criteria for the inclusion of substances in the priority list;
  • Annex 2: Form on which information on the substances to be evaluation by JECFA is provided; and
  • Annex 3: Priority List of substances proposed for evaluation by JECFA, forwarded to the 36th Session of the Commission for approval.

Interested Member Countries and observer organizations should send their information and comments to the CCFA Secretariat (secretariat@ccfa.cc) with a copy to the Codex Secretariat (codex@fao.org) by January 15, 2014. Parties in the United States that are interested in contributing to U.S. response should contact the U.S. Codex Office (uscodex@fsis.usda.gov) by November 1, 2013.

Committee on Sugars (CS) 
CL 2013/9-CS invited member countries and interested observer organizations to provide comments on the proposed draft Standard for Non-Centrifugated Dehydrated Sugar Cane Juice, which will be submitted to the Codex Alimentarius Commission for adoption at Step 5/8 at the session meeting in July 2013. Interested member countries and observer organizations should send their comments to the Codex Secretariat (codex@fao.org) by June 15, 2013.
