Committee on Latin America and the Caribbean (CCLAC): The U.S. Codex Office concluded on August 10 a three-day colloquium in Natal, Brazil, for an exchange of views among delegates from the United States and 40 delegates from 21 CCLAC member countries to prepare for their participation in upcoming meetings of the committees on Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (CCFFV) , Food Hygiene (CCFH) , and Fish and Fishery Products (CCFFP) . The colloquium was attended by delegates from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Lucia, the United States, and Uruguay. This is the 7th Western Hemisphere colloquium since this series began in 2008.
Electronic Working Groups (eWG)
Committee on Contaminants in Foods (CCCF) invites member countries and observer organizations to participate in an eWG to draft an annex for the prevention and reduction of Aflatoxins and Ochratoxin A contamination in sorghum. This annex should cover the stages of primary production, storage and distribution to the point of usage of sorghum. The annex will be proposed for the existing Code of Practice for the Prevention and Reduction of Mycotoxin Contamination in Cereals (CAC/RCP 51-2003). The eWG will be led by Nigeria, and co-chaired by Sudan. Member countries and observer organizations interested in participating in this eWG should provide the name(s), official title, and email address of their representative(s) to the Nigerian Codex Contact Point ( firstname.lastname@example.org) and the Chair of the eWG ( email@example.com) with a copy to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 15, 2012. Parties in the United States that are interested in contributing to the U.S. participation in this eWG should contact the U.S. Codex Office (USCodex@fsis.usda.gov).
Task Force on Animal Feeding (TFAF) requests comments on the draft Guidelines on Application of Risk Assessment for Feed. The document should be available at: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsis/topics/international-affairs/us-codex-alimentarius/committees-and-task-forces/ad-hoc-intergovernmental-task-forces/animal-feeding/ct_index. Parties interested in contributing to the U.S. response should send their comments to the U.S. Codex Office (USCodex@fsis.usda.gov) by November 9, 2012.
