Export Requirements for Republic of Kiribati

Eligible/Ineligible Products

  1. Eligible Product
    1. Fresh/Frozen and canned poultry and poultry products (chicken, turkey, goose and duck) produced in the US.
    2. Fresh/Frozen, cooked, and canned pork and products produced in the US and Canada.
    3. Fresh/Frozen and canned beef and beef products produced in the US, Canada and Vanuatu.
    4. Fresh/Frozen and canned sheep meat.
    5. Fresh/Frozen goat meat
  2. Ineligible Products
    1. All meat and poultry products not mentioned above are prohibited.
    2. Poultry and poultry products derived from birds originating from or slaughtered within the State(s) of Arkansas, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, South Dakota, or Washington are ineligible for export.
    3. Poultry and poultry products derived from birds originating from or slaughtered in the State of California on or after January 1, 2015 and before May 26, 2015 are ineligible for export*
    4. Poultry and poultry products derived from birds originating from or slaughtered in the State of Idaho on or after December 19, 2014 and before May 19, 2015 are ineligible for export.*
    5. Poultry and poultry products derived from birds originating from or slaughtered in the State of Oregon, on or after December 19, 2014 and before May 20, 2015 are ineligible for export.*


Packaging Requirements

  1. Meat and poultry products, except canned meat and poultry products, must be packaged in consumer-ready packages of less than 3kg (6.6 lb.).


Documentation Requirements

  1. All export certificates accompanying product must be signed by an FSIS Official.
  2. Poultry and poultry products - Obtain FSIS Form 9060-5, Meat and Poultry Export Certificate of Wholesomeness. The following statements must be included in the "Remarks" section of FSIS Form 9060-5:

    "The establishment’s source of the birds giving rise to the product are located in a State free of Newcastle disease and highly pathogenic avian influenza."

  3. Beef, sheep and goat meat and products - Obtain FSIS Form 9060-5, Meat and Poultry Export Certificate of Wholesomeness. The following statements must be included in the "Remarks" section of FSIS Form 9060-5:

    "The establishment’s source of the animals giving rise to the product are located in a State free of foot-and-mouth disease."

  4. Pork and pork products - Obtain FSIS Form 9060-5, Meat and Poultry Export Certificate of Wholesomeness. The following statements must be included in the "Remarks" section of FSIS Form 9060-5:

    "The establishment’s source of the swine giving rise to the product are located in a State free of foot-and-mouth disease, classical swine fever, and African swine fever."

Note: Exporters are advised that the government of Kiribati requires that an import permit be issued to the importer prior to the arrival of the product. The original import permit must be presented for shipment release. 


Plants Eligible to Export

All Federally inspected facilities are eligible to export to Kiribati.
