Eligible/Ineligible Products
- Eligible Products
- Cooked and pre-cooked meat and poultry products.
- Ruminant meat originating from Australia and New Zealand is eligible
for export to El Salvador (see certification requirements below).
- Beef meat products derived from cattle less
than 30 months of age produced under an approved
AMS Export Verification (EV) Less Than 30 (LT30)
months of age program. Information about the
program for El Salvador and a list of LT30
approved establishments can be obtained from AMS' Web site.
If FSIS inspection personnel become aware of
concerns that an AMS approved LT30 establishment
is not properly executing its Quality Control
Program, export certification should not be
issued for the product in question and AMS
should be notified at
ARCBranch@usda.gov.
Inspection personnel should include their
immediate supervisor on messages to AMS. The
following information should be included in the
message:
- Establishment name, address, and establishment number
- Product type, product code, and quantity of product
- Date of production, lot number, and shift
- Date and nature of observation
- Name of country product is intended for export
- Export certificate number (if applicable)
- Any other information to verify claim
- Name of inspection official
Veal and veal products are not subject to
the LT30 program.*
- Ineligible Products
- Uncooked poultry and uncooked poultry products from the U.S. are not
eligible for export to El Salvador because the disease certification
requirements cannot be met.
Documentation Requirements
Certification Requirements:
- For all cooked and pre-cooked meat and poultry products.
Obtain FSIS Form 9060-5, Meat and Poultry Export Certificate of
Wholesomeness. The conditions of the cooking process (internal
temperature and length of cooking time) must be typed in the "Remarks"
section.
- For all meat and poultry products. Obtain FSIS Form 9060-5, and
include the following statement in the "Remarks" section:
"Based on the U.S. National Residue Program, the meat is free of
harmful residues of antibiotics, heavy metals, pesticides, and hormones."
- For all beef meat products - Obtain FSIS Form 9060-5, and include the
following statement in the "Remarks" section:
"The meat was derived from animals less than 30 months of age."
- The certificate is to be visaed by a consul of El Salvador. For

- Signature on certificates - All required forms and supplementary
statements must be signed by a veterinarian. Name and degree (DVM or
equivalent) must be typed or printed after the signature.
- For re-export of ruminant meat originating from Australia and New Zealand
to El Salvador, the shipment must be accompanied by a copy of the
official export certificate of Australia or New Zealand and an original
FSIS 9060-5, Meat and Poultry Export Certificate of Wholesomeness.
Exporters are responsible for obtaining a copy of the Australian or New
Zealand certificate.
Plants Eligible to Export
All federally inspected establishments are eligible to export to El Salvador.
