Codex Executive Committee
|
|
The Executive Committee acts as the executive organ of the Commission between sessions of the Commission. Its
composition is designed to provide an adequate representation of the various geographical areas to which members of the
Commission belong. In addition to the Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons, seven members are elected by the Commission at
the regular session, one coming from the following regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin American and the Caribbean, Near
East, North America, and the South-West Pacific. Other members consist of the six Regional Coordinators.
The Committee may make proposals to the Commission regarding the work of the Commission, study special problems, and
serves as the standard management body. The Committee generally meets prior to each session, and at other times
during the year.
Dr. Claude Mosha (United Republic of Tanzania) is Chairperson until the end of the 31st Session. Dr. Karen Hulebak
(United States), Mr. Wim Van Eck (Netherlands) and Ms. Noriani Othman (Malaysia) are Vice-Chairpersons until the end of the
31st session.

The 61st Session of the Executive Committee of the Codex Alimentarius will be held in Geneva, Switzerland June 24-27, 2008.
