The public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2009, from 1 to 4 p.m., in Room 107A, Jamie Whitten

Documents and agenda items related to the 37th Session Session of CCFL will be available on the Codex Alimentarius
Web site at www.codexalimentarius.net/current.asp.
Codex was created in 1963 by two United Nations organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the
World Health Organization. Codex develops food standards, guidelines and codes of practice in order to
protect the health of consumers, and ensure fair food trade practices and promote coordination of food
standards undertaken by international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
The CCFL drafts provisions on labeling applicable to all foods; considers, amends if necessary, and endorses specific
provisions on labeling of draft standards codes of practice, and guidelines prepared by other Codex committees;
studies specific labeling problems assigned to the Committee by the Commission; and studies problems associated
with the advertisement of food with particular reference to claims and misleading descriptions. The Committee
is chaired by Canada.
Written comments may be submitted by interested parties by e-mail to the U.S. Delegate to the CCFL,
Dr. Barbara Schneeman, FDA, at ccfl@fda.hhs.gov.
