Each regional committee:
Defines the problems and needs of the region concerning food standards and food control
Promotes contacts for the exchange of information on proposed regulatory initiatives and stimulates the strengthening of food control infrastructures
Recommends to the Commission the development of world-wide standards for products of interest to the region
Exercises a general coordinating role for the region
Coordinating Committee for Africa
Defines problems and needs concerning food standards for the African region.
Coordinating Committee for Asia
Defines problems and needs concerning food standards for the Asian region.
Coordinating Committee for Europe
Defines problems and needs concerning food standards for Europe.
Coordinating Committee for Latin America & the Caribbean
Defines problems and needs concerning food standards for South America, Central America, and the Caribbean region.
Codex Committee for the Near East
Defines problems and needs concerning food standards for the Near East Region.
Coordinating Committee for North America & the South West Pacific
Defines the problems and needs concerning food standards for the United States, Canada, and the South West Pacific.
