Speaker Biographies

Barbara A. Chamberlin

Barbara Chamberlin works with New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service in developing multimedia websites, touch-screen kiosks and CD-ROMs. NMSU's Agricultural Communications has produced several products for children, including videos, games, and classroom guides. Barbara is finishing a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology at the University of Virginia. Her dissertation research includes assessment of "The Food Detectives Fight BAC!" website (http://www.fooddetectives.com) and her continued research interests include developing educational games for children and adults. She is currently developing a companion website to the first Food Detectives website which encourages inquiry-based learning by children through the investigation of various aspects of foodborne illness.
