Alice Thaler, D.V.M. Joined the USDA/FSIS as a supervisory veterinary medical officer in 1984, after owning and managing a private veterinary practice. Supervised inspection activities in meat and poultry slaughter and processing plants then worked as a Veterinary Staff Officer in Inspection Operations, Washington, D.C. Served as a Branch Chief in FSIS policy area developing Inspection Systems - integrated technical advances into food safety policy and programs, implemented strategic plans for reducing regulatory burden, increasing accountability, and measured results. Joined the Animal Production Food Safety Staff in 1999, as the National Program Leader for Poultry then became the Director of the Animal and Egg Production Food Safety Staff June 2000. Education
Professional Currently President of the National Association of Federal
Veterinarians (NAFV) and represent NAFV in the Coalition for Effective
Change. Member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American
College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, American Association of Avian
Pathologists/ Public Health Committee, United States Animal Health
Association, American Association of Food Hygiene Veterinarians, Western
