About the CEDL Branch

Training and education are often viewed as synonymous with formal classroom events. In this time of rapid change, more training and education are needed to keep pace with current inspection approaches, as well as prepare for the future. Learning cannot continue to be a series of one-time formal training events.

The Continuing Education and Distance Learning branch of the Center for Learning is designed for all FSIS employees in an effort to allow them to take advantage of a variety of learning resources. These resources can efficiently and cost-effectively make learning a career long endeavor. Different media such as self-study, audiovisual materials, and CD-ROM technology are available for loan to employees to improve their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Further, the branch provides certification programs that group continuing education activities with formal programs in an integrated and organized fashion. The Certificates of Excellence Program provides certification in a number of specialty areas at the Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.
