Production Dates/Identifying Codes: Produced on November 2 and 3, 2000, as follows:
  1. Wholesale: American Foods in 10-pound chubs; establishment # 410 with the sell by dates of 11-19 or 11-20, 2000. Sysco Classic in 10 pound chubs and Sysco Supreme Angus in 5 pound chubs with a packing date of 11/2/00.
  2. Retail packages:
    • ''B BAR BRAND 100% PURE GROUND BEEF'' in frozen 3-pound tubes with a sell by date of ''NOV/02/01'' bearing the establishment # ''Est. 410.''
    • ''KROGER GROUND BEEF 75/25,'' ''KROGER GROUND BEEF ROUND 85/15,'' and ''KROGER GROUND BEEF SIRLOIN 90/10'' in 1.5-pound tray packages with a production code of 0308, bearing the establishment # ''Est. 18076.''
    • ''KROGER GROUND BEEF,'' ''KROGER GROUND CHUCK,'' ''KROGER GROUND ROUND,'' and ''KROGER GROUND SIRLOIN'' in 1,3,and 5-poundtubes with a sell by date of ''NOV/20/00'' bearing the establishment # ''Est. 410.''
Problem/Reason for Recall: The products may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O157:H7.
How/When Discovered: FSIS, upon receiving information from the Minnesota Department of Health, determined that epidemiological evidence implicated the recalled products in cases of illness associated with Escherichia coli O157:H7 in Minnesota.
