Production Dates/Identifying Codes: Produced on June 10, 2000. Products subject to recall bear the following codes:

  • SIMEK'S 100% PURE-THICK GROUND BEEF PATTIES, code 0162 on principal display panel.
  • SIMEK'S 100% PURE JUMBO GROUND BEEF PATTIES, code 0162 on end panel of box.
  • SIMEK'S LEAN BEEF PATTIES, code 0162 appears on master case.
Problem/Reason for Recall: Possible contamination of the product with Escherichia coli O157:H7
How/When Discovered: Minnesota Department of Agriculture reported illnesses due to E. coli O157:H7 which they linked to ground beef produced by Rochester Meat Company on June 10, 2000.
