Product(s) Recalled:  All varieties of "Schneiders" brand Salami products. The sliced products are packed in 5-ounce exact weight packages and 6.0 to 8.0-ounce or 2.8 to 3.2-pounds random weight packages. Unsliced salami halves are packed in 2.3 to 2.5-pound random weight packages.
Production Dates/Identifying Codes: All Schneiders Salami products (any variety) with any codes or sell by dates. The number 592 appears in the Canadian mark of inspection on all labels.
Problem/Reason for Recall: Possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination.
How/When Discovered: Illnesses in British Columbia were associated with a salami product produced by the company; follow-up testing by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) confirmed, on November 24, 1999, the presence of E. coli O157:H7 in a lot of salami produced August 6, 1999.
