Problem/Reason for Recall: Chemical adulteration (chlorfenvinphos)
How/When Discovered: Results of laboratory tests conducted by the FSIS indicated, on November 3, 1999, that one lot of imported meat used as an ingredient in the recalled product may have been contaminated with the compound chlorfenvinphos. The firm voluntarily initiated a recall upon being notified by the FSIS.
