Production Dates/Identifying Codes: Produced April 21, 1999. Product Code 96889. Each case is marked immediately under the bar code with 03-9111-(xxxx) xxxx may be any digits, 9111 represents the Julian date.
Problem/Reason for Recall: Listeria monocytogenes.
How/When Discovered: Foster Farms was notified by a customer that turkey franks produced on April 21, 1999, were tested and found positive for L. monocytogenes. The shipment was returned to the establishment on August 20, 1999, and tested for the firm at a private laboratory. The private laboratory reported the product positive for L. monocytogenes on August 27, 1999. Foster Farms notified the FSIS Inspector-in-Charge and the Emergency Response Division, FSIS, on August 27, 1999.
