Problem/Reason for Recall: Possible contamination of the product with Escherichia coli O157:H7
How/When Discovered: On June 23, 2000, Canadian Office of Food Safety and Recall notified FSIS Recall Management Division through the Recall Management Division’s Emergency Phone Service that ground beef product being recalled in Canada had been shipped to consignees in the United States. The Canadian recall was in response to a positive laboratory report of Escherichia coli O157:H7 by a customer of the Canadian firm.
