The fine ground beef, bear the following three-line code near the seam of the chub: ''EST 245 J'' on line one; ''SELL/FREEZE BY'' on line two, and ''MAY 31 A'' on line three. Their shipping cases bear the code ''D0881BH''. The products in 10-pound chubs bear the following three-line code: ''EST 245J'' on line one; ''134 00'' followed by ''A'' or ''B'' on line two; and one of the following descriptions on line three: ''#81 CHUCK,'' ''#81 GR BEEF,'' ''#73 GR BEEF,'' ''SIRLOIN,'' ''#75 GR BEEF,'' ''#93 GR BEEF,'' or ''#86 ROUND.'' Their shipping cases bear pack date ''05/13/00'' and the code ''245J00134.''
Problem/Reason for Recall: The products may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O157:H7.
How/When Discovered: A sample collected by FSIS/OFO personnel on June 16, 2000, returned a positive result for Escherichia coli O157:H7 on June 22, 2000.
