Production Dates/Identifying Codes: Consumer packages 1-lb., 2-lb., and 3-lb. packages produced on April 19,1999, marked with "sell-by" date of April 20, 99, and bearing the store's name (Jewel Ground Beef) and address (8721 S. Stony Island Ave, Chicago).
Problem/Reason for Recall: The product may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7
How/When Discovered: A routine FSIS monitoring sample for retail establishments was found positive for E. coli O157: H7 on April 25, 1999.
