Product(s) Recalled:  Oscar Mayer Authentic Cotto Salami made with Chicken, Beef & Pork in 8-ounce packages.
Production Dates/Identifying Codes: Produced February 22, 1999. All packages have "537A" in the U.S. Department of Agriculture seal and bear either the code, "A MAY 20" or "B MAY 20" in the upper right corner on the front of the package.
Problem/Reason for Recall: The product was produced with the declared sodium nitrite cure, used to impart the characteristic color to the product, omitted from the formulation.
How/When Discovered: The firm was informed by a customer that the product lacked the typical cured meat color and had a dark brown appearance. Further investigation by the firm disclosed the error in formulation.
