Product(s) Recalled:  Frozen 100% pure ground beef, 100% pure ground beef patties, 100% pure ground chuck patties, chopped beefsteak, beef patties, meat for chili, beef patty mix, and pure beef bulk. The product was sold to wholesale and institutional customers only in 10, 15, and 20 pound packages and chubs.
Production Dates/Identifying Codes: All recalled products were produced on December 1, 1998, marked with the Julian code 8335 representing 12-01-1998), and bearing Establishment 8999 in the mark of inspection with any of the following brand names on the packages:

Alliant, Perkins, Rochester Meats Cloud, Ram's Horn, Zeches Label, Reinhart Label, H&H Food Service, Pocahontas, Mickey Bearman, Conco, Upper Lakes, Autocrat, Reinhart Harvest Pride, FSA, Rochester Meats, Wards, and Earl Draper.
Problem/Reason for Recall: E. coli O157:H7
How/When Discovered: FSIS samples collected on March 19, 1999, and March 24, 1999, were found positive for E. coli O157:H7. The PFGE patterns of the E. coli O157:H7 Maine meat isolates match the PFGE patterns of the patient isolates from Maine.
