North Carolina Firm Recalls Undercooked Turkey Breast Products

        WASHINGTON, Jan. 14, 2000--Carolina Turkey, a Mt. Olive, NC, poultry processor is voluntarily recalling approximately 146,000 pounds of turkey breast products because some of the product may have been undercooked, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.

        The products involved are 9-pound turkey breasts. All packages bear Est. "P-7345" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Products and identifying codes are listed below:

        "Because of the potential for foodborne illness, we urge consumers who have purchased this product not to eat it and to return it to the point of purchase," said Judith Riggins, acting FSIS administrator.

        The problem was discovered after a customer complaint was received. No illnesses associated with the consumption of this product have been reported.
